      Active Ingredients

      Ceramides

A ceramide is a lipid molecule which plays an essential role in both water-retention function and barrier function in the stratum corneum – the outer layer of skin. Ceramides ensure that trans-epidermal water loss does not occur too quickly by holding onto water in the skin.

      Phospholipids

Phospholipids are naturally occurring or synthetic fats (composed of glycerol, fatty acids, and phosphate). They pull water in to where it is needed, making them excellent humectants and emollients. They also work as antioxidants.

      Cholesterol

Cholesterols are naturally occurring components of the skin barrier. They work to strengthen the barrier function of  the skin. In skincare, they  also function as stabilizers, emollients, surfactants, and water-binding agents.

      Niacinamide

Niacinamide helps to visibly minimise enlarged pores, tightens lax pores, improves uneven skin tone, soften fine lines and wrinkles, diminish dullness and strengthen a weakened surface.

      Glucosamine

Because of its stimulation of hyaluronic acid synthesis, glucosamine has been shown to accelerate wound healing, improve skin hydration, and decrease wrinkles. In addition, as an inhibitor of tyrosinase activation, it inhibits melanin production and is useful in treatment of disorders of hyperpigmentation.

      M₂ Rich Moisturizer insights:

This is packed with barrier restoring and deeply moisturizing essentials- ceramides, phospholipids and cholesterol- what we call the ‘holy grail of hydration’.

Healthy skin starts with a healthy epidermal barrier, which is composed of ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids (phospholipids).¹ Aging and skin conditions like eczema can lead to loss of natural lipids, epidermal barrier dysfunction, and compromised skin health.² Our M2 Rich Moisturizer has all the benefits of our M1 Light Moisturizer plus the addition of a ‘lipid punch’ for added barrier repair. As with our M1, we use acetyl glucosamine, which inhibits tyrosinase, an enzyme required for the production of melanin, and pair it with niacinamide, for a synergistic effect.³ Niacinamide hydrates, restores the epidermal barrier, and repairs damaged DNA.⁴ Ceramides restore barrier function and lock in moisture.⁵,⁶

In contrast to other moisturizers, we do not formulate with common vehicles known to irritate such as propylene glycol/propranediol. We also are exacting about our preservatives and only use those that have the very lowest allergenicity profile based on the latest medical literature.
